Join us on this fantastic underground tour led by Graham Hall, Project Manager of Sunbridgewells, who will talk through the history and regeneration of the underground retail complex. All members and non-members are welcome from the Chartered Association of Builders, Chartered Institute of Building and Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
Sunbridgewells is Bradford's first underground retail complex right in the heart of Bradford's historic trading quarter. There are Victorian style units running the length of the tunnels and it has become an internal street with a large glass area above. A rear courtyard has been created together with open plan glass / steel staircase leading to Upper Miller Gate. This creates light to the tunnel system and has been covered by an atrium entrance and exit to the shopping area below. The tunnels have a long and fascinating history, from dungeons in the 1700's to The Little Fat Black Pussy Cat Club of the early 1970's.
The entrance can be found between Starbucks and Wetherspoons (The Turls Green) via Centenary Square.
Parking is available at one of the many car parks nearby while the venue is within easy reach of the train stations and the Leeds-Bradford Cycle Superhighway.
