Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster, fire training rig visit

Before the main event there will be tea and biscuits and a short presentation at the RHADS firefighting facility at Robin Hood Airport by the RHADS firefighting service, where you might consider if you are intending to take a flight what would they do in an emergency and where is the best place to sit?  On top of the Black box because that always survives!  is not the right answer.

Following the presentation and question and answer section there is a rare opportunity for 18 people to view and experience the full effects of an aircraft fire fighting simulator at close hand. The Civil Aviation Authority standards require the Emergency Services integral to each Airport to undergo aggressive simulation of emergency procedures associated with a distressed aircraft and at RHADS there is an Aircraft Fire Trainer based upon a B767 - 4M dia fuselage, that performs a variety of operational tasks to allow the training to take place.

This section of the tour will require you to pass through an airside security process and as such you should bring with you either a passport or Both sections of your driving licence. Sorry no exceptions it’s a DFT ruling and they are strict on application. 

You will then be bussed to the simulator on the airfield and given a tour of the simulator lasting approximately 30 minutes to see the control room and the B767 training fuselage.

We will then return to the RHADS firefighting facility for departure with it being expected that we will be finished for c8:00 – 8:15 pm.
