BIM an opportunity for Unity

For the January event we shall have two speakers with us exploring how we can benefit from BIM in our industry.

Janet Beckett – from Carbon Saver UK shall be talking to us about some of the opportunities in BIM, specifically with relation to the design and installation of Building services systems.  We all need to grasp this quickly to ensure the future of our profession and industry.

Initially we need to recognise and recapture the processes that are outlined in RIBA POW 2013, BSRIA BG6 2012 and PAS 1192 to acknowledge our core strengths and weaknesses so that we can identify where our company might sit in a BIM supply chain, especially important for SMEs. 

We then need to collaborate with others in the industry to deliver a better product that will demonstrate the value of what we do to the client and other design professionals.

Mo Isap - Director of Group Strategy Hobs Reprographics - shall be showing us some of the amazing new emerging technologies that can help us to visualise things in building models.

These include;
 - 3D modelling
 - Computer generated images
 - Animations
 - 3D laser scanning
 - Augmented Reality
 - Virtual reality
 - 3D printing
 - Architectural model making
 - Collaboration software

The meeting shall commence at 6:30pm with refreshments being available from 6pm.

All persons whether CIBSE members or not are welcome, but please can you confirm your attendance to , so we can organise appropraite catering.
