Part L update and low energy design

For our first October technical event, Hywel Davies, Technical Director for CIBSE, shall be coming up to give us a Part L Update...

- or "What the L is going on with building regulations?"

Part L 2013 - honestly, yes, it came into force in 2014 but it is still Part L 2013!

A quick recap of what Part L 2013 covers and when it all comes into force

Zero Carbon Homes and Allowable Solutions - what are they, and what does it mean?

Nearly Zero Energy Buildings - what the EPBD says about them

Is a Zero Carbon Home a Nearly Zero Energy Building, does it matter, and should I care?

Does it matter to my clients, and what, if anything, should I tell them?

The future of Part L - or at least, some speculation about where it might go!

The event shall be held at the Leeds Metropolitan (Beckett officially now) University wth refreshments served from 6 pm.  Event starts at 6:30pm.

Attendance is free, and you don't need to be CIBSE Members to come along (indeed we like a mix of people as well!!!).  Parking is available (to pay unfortunately) in the car park below the venue.

In order to assist with refreshments and event planning, it would be appreciated if people could advise our Programme Secretary, Simon Owen, by Emailing him on

Hywel did a fantastic job, livening up a failing dry subject of regulation and controls.
