The next CIBSE Patrons meeting will be on the afternoon of Wednesday 28th September and we are very pleaseed to advise that it will feature a talk by the new CIBSE President Andy Ford.
The meeting will be at the newly-opened Rose Bowl conference centre in Leeds, operated by Leeds Metropolitan University. Centrally located next to Leeds Civic Hall, where the city’s civic, educational, business and cultural quarters meet, this state of the art development features the latest in modern conferencing facilities and design.
After the meeting there will be a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the centre inclusive of a presentation by the projects engineers, Arup.
The resulting low carbon design included the application of combined heat and power and rainwater harvesting. The building was assessed and optimised for recycling of demolition waste and held a sustainable materials specification using the WRAP assessment model. Site access for maintenance featured heavily on the University agenda. Arup produced a 3D model of the major plant areas for hand over to the contractor team.
The timings are as follows:
1.15 Sandwich lunch
2pm Meeting starts (including talk by CIBSE President Andy Ford)
3.45 presentation and tour of the Rose Bowl
(presentation by Craig Havenhand of Arup)
4.30 Tea / coffee / drinks
6pm Finish
We expect this event to be popular with Patrons, Yorkshire Region and YEN members alike. It is therefore essential to let me know if you will be attending.
If you would like to come, please let me know by Wednesday 7th September
